Course: Media Interview Technique Training

Aim:
This course is aimed at voluntary organisations or public companies and aims to equip delegates with the knowledge to achieve the best results from a radio or television interview.
Who should attend?
This course is aimed at those within an organisation who are likely to be put forward as spokespeople, either on a day-to-day basis or as a specialist in the event of a crisis situation.
Outcomes:
By the end of this course, participants should be better able to:
• understand the techniques used by the media in interview situations
• be aware of how to deal with difficult specific questions
• be aware of body language and how to react in interview situations
• be more confident to get a message across in terms which are easily understood by the public
Content:
• Fundamentals of Press and Public Relations and its role within an organisation
• Situations likely to attract hostile media attention (this will be tailored to each organisations unique role)
• Use of the media to gain friendly coverage (tailored to each organisations unique role)
• How to perform well in an interview
• Role play interview (either radio or televised)
• Feedback
Methods:
This course is interactive and includes presentations, practical exercises, role play, feedback via the use of audio and video equipment.
